When you think of greeting cards designed for ex-spouses, you probably assume they’re nasty-grams filled with mean-spirited or snarky sentiments.
There may be a place for that, but divorced entrepreneurs Ken and Wanda Bass decided to fill a much needed “nice” niche, and created Xcards: a card line for co-parents. Their slogan is “Not together, but never forgotten.”
The former couple were married for 15 years before they divorced 15 years ago, and now they are in business together with Xcards. Wanda says “co-parenting may not require friendship right away but it does require cooperation in order for your children to grow up in a socially healthy environment.”
The latest in the line are coming out just in time for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day!
Xcards are for exes who need “healthy change, forgiveness and restoration in their relationship after divorce.” Wanda adds, “Our sons are just as excited as we are about the positive impact Xcards can have on families. Attitude really is everything. The amount of time spent fighting as parents is counterproductive. Instead, try engaging.”
With the divorce rate at over 50% – not to mention the rate of babies born to single parents – there’s more variety in family formations than ever before. “I knew if this was a problem for us, there had to be others out there with the same problem,” says Ken.
What do you think? Would you buy a nice card for your ex? Tell us!
