It would have been tragic no matter what, but watching it happen live? That's a whole new level of horrible.
A mother holding her 1-year-old child died in the middle of a Facebook Live broadcast while dozens of her friends and family watched, unable to help at all.
Keiana Herndon was just having a typical afternoon, hanging out with her toddler Riley and playing on the internet, when she spur of the moment decided to go Live.
She was talking about her hopes to go back to school when things started looking strange.
“She got to whipping her face and shaking her head, and I was thinking, what’s wrong with Kei?,” said Herndon’s aunt. “She then, she fell back and then Riley picked the phone up and started talking and playing and then I hear [gasping] then I heard one more … I didn’t hear nothing else,”
The video, now deleted, doesn’t stop. It kept streaming and streaming until a friend of Herndon’s found her and called 911.
Her mother is understandably devastated that the final memories of her daughter were from a Facebook video. But that’s only gotten worse in the days since, as the internet’s run rampant with speculation as to what could have killed Herndon (drugs, etc.). But her mother won't hear a word of it:
“She had thyroid problems. The thyroid messes with everything and it triggered her heart. It’s a tragedy, I know that much, and I know one thing…I would love to have my baby back with me."
This is so sad, we are praying for Keiana's family.
