This is not a drill! Rihanna and Lupita Nyong'o are set to co-star in a Netflix movie inspired by the internet. What a time to be alive, right? According to Entertainment Weekly, Netflix "aggressively" bid on the project and plans to get this show on the road.
This dreamy crime film all began with a Tumblr post, featuring a photo of Rihanna and Lupita at a Miu Miu fashion show in 2014. The caption read, "They look like they’re in a heist movie with Rihanna as the tough-as-nails leader/master thief and Lupita as the genius computer hacker."
The photo and caption was eventually stolen and warped by a few popular Twitter accounts, causing the plot to change to two women working together to scam rich white men out of their money.
When RiRi and Lupita said they'd do the project, fans decided to take it to the next level. They asked Ava DuVernay to direct and Issa Rae to write the script. Moments later, both ladies agreed!
According to EW, Rihanna will play the main "con-artist" and Lupita will be her "brilliant co-conspirator."
You're probably hoping the people who originally came up with the idea on Twitter gets there coins, right? Reps eventually told Vanity Fair that “the original Twitter users who imagined the concept for this film will be credited and included in some form.”)
While it's too early to say exactly how the plot will go down, we have something amazing to look forward to.
