There are a few understood rules in basketball. Don't give Steph Curry an open look at a three, if LeBron is coming at you, move out of the way, and do not pick a fight with Matt Barnes. Derek Fisher learned this the hard way last October, when he was hanging out with Barnes' ex-wife ("Basketball Wives LA" star Gloria Govan) at the house they once shared. Matt Barnes famously drove 95 miles to beat the s--t out of Derek Fisher.
Milwaukee Bucks forward John Henson picked a fight he may not have been prepared to finish, when he played Matt Barnes and the Memphis Grizzlies. Here's what went down. With only six seconds left in the game, the Bucks were about to win, Henson blocked Matt Barnes' shot, then turned his usual baby face into the meanest scowl he could muster at Barnes. Both players were given technical fouls for taunting.
Henson got a technical foul earlier in the game, so the second one meant an automatic ejection for him. He leaves, egging on the crowd, then takes off his jersey and tosses it to them. It's a move the often ejected Dennis Rodman used to do back in the day.
When Matt Barnes is substituted out with 5.5 seconds still left in the game, he takes it upon himself to make an early exit, run down the tunnel, and head for the Bucks' locker room presumably to confront Henson.
Bucks announcer Gus Johnson said, "This is where you need law enforcement, forget about coaches." Several security guards did run into the tunnel after Barnes.
After the game, extra security escorted both players out of the arena. See the entire incident here:
After the Derek Fisher incident, Matt Barnes told reporters at a pre-game press conference, "Violence is never the answer. But sometimes it is." The League fined him $35,000 for the comments advocating violence. This latest incident is still under investigation. Barnes could face a fine or possible suspension.
