We all say things like: " I could just kill him." But most of us mean it interchangeably with phrases like, "He makes me sick." Or..."I can't stand him." Same thing.
But could you imagine knowing your spouse wants you gone? Really...to actually kill you?!!! What about having to be in a sting that involves faking your own death? Not just on paper, but with blood, a grave and the whole bit? #Wow #JustWow
That’s exactly what boxing coach Ramon Sosa, 50, had to do. He lay in a grave, covered in gore with a realistic bullet wound in his head, and was photographed. Wow, even though he knew it was all made up, it must have been traumatic. And then seeing the pics of himself dead?? Chilling.
Here’s what happened: Sosa, a marked man, joined forces with Texas detectives to prove his wife, Maria “Lulu” Sosa, 43, was offering $4,000+ to have him murdered. He found out, because Maria approached one of Ramon’s friends to do it – only, she didn’t know it was Ramon’s friend! It gets better...
Ramon told The Sun, “Without knowing, she had approached a guy called Gustavo to see if he could organize the hit. I knew him, because I’d coached him. He’d been in trouble in the past. At first, when he called and said he needed to see me because someone ‘wanted to kill me’ I thought he was joking. Then we devised a plan, for him to wear a wire and tape her offering money to have me killed, before turning the evidence over to the cops.”
Imagine having to fake your death like this...
Turns out Rosa, a native of Mexico, wanted Ramon’s money. The couple married in 2010, but apparently Rosa wasn’t feeling the love anymore by the time she was caught on tape by the hidden microphone Gustavo, the would-be hitman, wore to his meeting with her. She’d gotten the Green Card she wanted by marrying an American citizen and so… it was time to say adios to Ramon and hello to her inheritance. Or so she thought.
Ramon said: “After recording his meeting with her, where Gustavo pretended to know two hitmen, we took the tape to the police, who were shocked — but came up with a plan. They asked me to pretend to be dead, so we could show the pictures to Lulu.”
With help from the FBI, Texas Rangers smeared bloody makeup on Ramon, so it looked like he had been shot through the temple. The coach was taken to the Texan desert and ‘buried’ in a shallow grave. “Lying in the dirt, pretending to be dead, was terrifying,” Ramon recalled.
After that, he said, “A ‘hitman’ who was actually an undercover police officer, met Lulu in a parking lot and showed her the pictures. She giggled and laughed, like she hit the Lotto.” Whoa. That’s cold.
In the end, Lulu pleaded guilty to solicitation of murder at the District Court in Conroe, Texas, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Crazy on so many levels.
