Backpedalling! Mike Ditka Apologizes For Saying There Hasn’t Been Any ‘Oppression In Last 100 Years’

Mike Ditka Oppression, Former Bears Coach, Mike Ditka Apologizes

We see you backpedalling sir!

After acting a plum fool on Westwood One’s pregame show saying that there hasn’t been any oppression in this country “in [the] last 100 years,” Mike Ditka is now apologizing. Here's what he originally said:

"I have absolutely seen oppression in society in the last 100 years and I am completely intolerant of any discrimination. The interview was about the NFL and the related issues," he said in a statement posted on Chicago's WGN-TV.

Uh...that still doesn’t explain his nonsense though! NFL players are taking a knee to raise awareness about blatant racism and police brutality that is happening RIGHT NOW IN 2O17.

Ditka got dragged after he gave some pretty bizarre statements about race relations in America. In an awkward rambling interview, the legendary Bears coach fixed his senile lips to say that he doesn’t understand why certain NFL players are kneeling during the National Anthem because there hasn’t been any oppression in America “in [the] last 100 years.”

“All of a sudden, it’s become a big deal now, about oppression,” Ditka told Jim Gray. “There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of. Now maybe I’m not watching it as carefully as other people.”

When Gray tried to correct the NFL Hall of Famer, Ditka wasn’t trying to hear it.

“I don’t know what social injustices have been,” the avid Trump supporter said.

“Muhammad Ali rose to the top. Jesse Owens is one of the classiest individuals that ever lived. I mean, you can say, ‘Are you (saying) everything is based on color?’ I don’t see it that way. I think that you have to be color blind in this country. You’ve got to look at a person for what he is and what he stands for and how he produces, not by the color of his skin. That has never had anything to do with anything.”

The former Chicago Bears coach went on to reminisce about how the world used to be before folks made everything about race.

“No, I’m not because I’m getting old, Jim, and I’m to the point right now, I’m fed up with a lot of it,” Ditka said.

“I mean, I don’t see all this, the social injustice that some of these people see. I don’t. I know my dad worked in a steel mill and he brought home a paycheck and we ate dinner every night together. We didn’t have anything, but we didn’t need anything because we had a family. That was a good time in America. I would like to see us get back to that.”

Make America white again!

Here's what DL Hughley had to say about Ditka's comments:

His recent apology is a complete 180 from what he was popping prior. Obviously someone let him know that being 77-years-old, he grew up during Jim Crow when Black folks couldn’t vote or drink out of the same water fountains as whites.

SO CUT IT OUT!  Ditka doesn’t have to worry about social injustice because it’s NEVER actually happening to him.

Keep resisting y’all!
